Touch me festival

Touch Me LogoThe citizens of Zagreb had a chance to witness incredible human achievements based on knowledge, technology, inventions, culinary arts and art itself in the broad sense. The name of this slightly provocative yet interesting manifestationl was "Touch me, feel better festival". It took place in Zagreb's student centre from 19Th - 23Rd December 2008.

Next to the entrance a sign was placed warning visitors to enter at their own risk. Following that is a barley recognizable lobby of SC's (student centre) cinema that was designed and decorated by the same guy who is making and giving away apple and shljivovitz pancakes in the molecular kitchen near the entrance. The black celophane maze takes you through the great exhibition of shocking and unforseen challenges.

One of the more shocking exhibits was a room with a plastic box with holes in the middle contaning a cocaine like powder (we later found out that it was caffeine) with a warning stating that one shouldn't stay in the room for more then 2 minutes at a time. Furthermore, the black hallways were filled with sex toys for both men and women. You could even try them out, all you needed to do was sign up!

What interested us the most was Satoshi Morita's sound capsule. When one enters the capsule, speakers affect your body with sound and your mind hears the texture of the sound flowing through your body, spine and bones. Satoshi Morita

The festival was filled with weird exhibits and performances like the remote controlled roller skater who put his faith in the hands of the audience in the performance "In your hands" by Dash McDonald or the Playstation massage through Tekken 3 with Mike Satomi's and Hannah Perner-Wilson's installation. All in all this is the kind of festival that Zagreb needs to se more of. What the people at Kontejner did is just great and we send them our respect and thanks!
