From December 29th to January 1st Helsinki was host of the Helldone festival What marks this festival is a traditional New Years Eve concert held by the famous Finnish band HIM in the Tavastia club situated in Helsinki's centre. Judging by the audience, only seeing the band (or the frontman Ville Valo) is the best New Year's gift possible. Besides HIM, two other bands stand out in the crowd; The 69 eyes and The Negative, making Helldone a real doom metal festival. This year the festival spread to two cities other then Helsinki for the first time. So HIM, 45 Degree Woman and KYCPK (Kursk) visited Tampre and Oulu as two of Finland's bigger cities.

On last year's December 29th Tavastia club hosted Finnish bands Stamina, Diablo and Godsplague. Other then the incident caused by Godsplague's drunken guitarist Euge who jumped off stage into the not so numerous audience and found himself face down on the floor, everything went normal. Godsplague stopped playing after the slight incident - let's hope Euge still has all his limbs. It's not that surprising for a wasted guitarist to have double vision and imagine twice as many people in the audience making him think he can stage dive like a real rock star.

HIM did the New Year's count down in Tavastia, starting the two hour concert with the Spider Pig song from The Simpsons movie. All albums were included in the concert set. After the concert, the untouchable HIM vanished from the face of the earth. Other then a great show by HIM, I'll remember that i understood nothing while the Finnish audience ware laughing their asses off. Looks like VIlle Vallo is aware that not only locals visit the festival so he spoke some English after all. To bad it was a commercial for his father's sex shop. The die hard fans planned to visit the shop anyway so to them the announcement was nothing but a mere reminder.
